Otto and Albert share the spotlight

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

Otto and Albert have never had it so good.....as if being asked to star alongside each other in a commercial for the National Lottery wasn't enough to make them smile, when they arrived at the shoot they found themselves being directed to relax and enjoy massages and luxuriate in jacuzzis with glamorous women - nice work if you can get it.

Watch below to see what a tough time they had on this job!

Albert gets the call every Gorilla hopes for....

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

There's one sure way for a Gorilla to know when he's made it as an actor, and that's to be given the honour of starring in a Cadbury commercial! Albert has just done exactly that for Cadbury in Pakistan, and has recently returned from filming it in Malaysia. Although it won't be shown in the UK, the power of the internet will hopefully allow us to see his performance when the commercial airs in Asia and we'll post a link here if it does.

Albert and Tyrone spend an amazing day with blind and partially sighted children

Monday, 17 October 2011

Albert and Tyrone had one of the best days of their lives (and in Tyrone's case that's a lot of days) last Friday, when they went with their keepers to visit the blind and partially sighted kids at New College, Worcester.

The students were able to touch and feel the creatures to gain a sensory understanding of what they look like, and their reactions were a delight. Albert and Tyrone made some very special friends there, and made ITV Central West News whilst doing it - click here to see the clip, and here is some wonderful video of the day, taken by the Millennium Live! keepers:

A new character to join us soon

Monday, 03 October 2011

There is great excitement in the Millennium Live! camp, at news that a new character will be joining the ranks for live appearances very soon. We can't reveal any more at the moment, but watch this space. Everyone is preparing for his or her arrival enthusiastically, and the new recruit will doubtless be given acting lessons by Tyrone whether they want them or not!

Tyrone plays to 10,000 crowd

Sunday, 02 October 2011

Tyrone felt like a rock star in July, when he appeared to a crowd of 10,000 people. They had gathered on Chambers Street, Edinburgh to celebrate the re-opening of the National Museum of Scotland, which has had a £47.4 million re-fit of its Victorian section. This comprises 16 new galleries showing 8,000 objects, 80% of which haven't been seen for generations.

Tyrone was one of the warm up acts, parading up and down the street, meeting people, posing for photos and generally being a nuisance for his keepers.

He was priviliged to be a part of the unveiling of such an important museum - it seems there are some benefits to being an old relic. Some great footage below taken by a spectator in the crowd...

Albert on a small screen near you soon

Albert was rather pleased with himself recently for landing not one, not two but three TV jobs in a row, in which to showcase his performing talents.

Although he loves nothing better than to make live appearances and meet people first hand, he's also a bit of a thespian at heart, and the words 'Lights, Camera, Action' are music to his ears.

He will soon be appearing in commercials for The National Lottery and PlayStation, as well as taking a key role in a new MTV reality show.

As we can't show any clips from these projects yet, here he is warming up in the studio before one of the commercial shoots - Stanislavsky would be proud.

Tyrone's cousin a superstar in Brazil

Sunday, 02 October 2011

Tyrone likes to take centre stage, but recently he's had to share the spotlight with his cousin Rex, who has achieved nothing short of A-list celebrity status in the exotic climbs of Brazil. He has now emigrated there where he enjoys the trappings of fame, but is something of an accidental star....

Shy Rex wasn't interested in the limelight, but a dinosaur has to pay his bills so he took a job at the Hopi Hari theme park in Sao Paulo. As it's Brazil's second largest amusement park and full of big rides, he thought he was bound to be bottom of the bill and would go practically un-noticed.

WRONG! Overnight Rex found himself fronting TV commercials and starring on chat shows. See the footage below - Tyrone was green with envy!

Dinosaurs on the dance floor

Tyrone and Dakota have been busy at Bunn Leisure Holiday Park on the Sussex coast this summer. They've made frequent appearances there and become familiar faces around the park's three holiday villages, meeting the ever-growing crowds of holidaymakers - they counted 2,500 at their last visit!

Although they are arch rivals, whilst there they put their differences aside to appear regularly together at the Embassy Club. They take to the dance floor accompanied by their keepers, to entertain the visitors and have their photos taken, right (what a couple of poseurs.)

The dinosaurs will be back at Bunn Leisure again on October 25th for Halloween, and you can see them there throughout 2012. Click here for more information about this great family holiday park with its own mile long stretch of beach front - Tyrone and Dakota highly recommend it!

HP5 joins the action at 'Robots Live' 2011

Sunday, 02 October 2011

img_3995HP5 stepped out at the 'Robots Live' event at Scotland's National Museum of Flight in June.

As well as walkabouts by our very own giant robot, the day included Robot Combat with teams from the BBC's hit show 'Robot Wars', and 'Robocup' Soccer with the Edinburgh University team, who hope to become 2011 world Robocup champions with their football playing robots! There were also plenty of interactive games and technical challenges. If you're into robots don't miss this event next year, especially as HP5 has been invited back again! See him out and about meeting people in the video below, taken by an attendee at the show.

Tyrone joins the stars on the red carpet

Saturday, 01 October 2011

Tyrone was flattered to be asked to make a guest appearance at the launch of the last series of ITV's hit Sc-Fi drama 'Primeval' back in May.

The event was held at London Zoo so he felt quite at home, and ejoyed hanging out with stars Hannah Spearritt and Andrew-Lee Potts, right. Neither were unnerved by being in close proximity to Tyrone, as they're used to coming face to face with such pre-historic creatures in the show. Their characters Abby Maitland and Connor Temple investigate the appearance of dinosaurs plus a goodly helping of futuristic beings, which find their way into the present day through temporal anomalies.

Tyrone also made lots of new friends amongst the children who were at the premiere. Take a look at some pictures of him playing with them in his photo gallery.
